Continuing my elderly transition into the cosmic soup, this upside down turtle resurfaced as a symbol. I previously explored the imagery of morphing in Turtle Dairies (2008-2010).

As “surrender” became more prevalent in my thoughts, I wondered if there was any dance left in this turtle and if the “Yellow Tang” fish could help her to resurface? As form and content play with one another, the bright color and dynamic pattern interact with the aged texture of the wood grain board — perhaps giving new lines of life to my artist’s life.

Yet time stands still in this pictorial ebb and flow. Is this a dance of acceptance?
