Paul 1965-

“Growing up, most kids just had boring and tedious photos from Olan Mills or some other mass photographer. My sister and I got endless and varied portraits instead. We got to choose what we wanted in them, and sometimes mom would even use our own art in the pieces. What could possibly be cooler than getting your portrait done with all your favorite superheroes, or dressed as your favorite rock stars?” — Paul Barchilon

As they developed, my children were the subjects I had on hand whenever I tried different approaches to making art. I depicted them in oil crayons, pen and ink, oil paints, wood cut-outs, acrylics, collage and mixed media.  Paul seemed to have as many personas as I had media. I followed him through the stages of his development, and we have danced together creatively from the start. He is now an artist in his own right. We still share vision and collaborate on many levels including his design of this web site.
